چکیده

Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is one of the most im portant organic redox coenzymes [1 -4], It partic ipates in biological electron transfer with redoxactive metalloenzymes. Accordingly, the nature of flavin transition metal complexes is of consider able interest [5-16]. If electron transfer between metal and riboflavin takes place in the coordinated state (inner sphere electron transfer) this process can be related to optical charge transfer transi tions. Since riboflavin is an oxidant, its complexes with reducing metals should display metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorptions in their elec tronic spectra. Indeed, such MLCT transitions have been assigned to long-wavelength absorptions of various riboflavin complexes with donor metals [11,12, 15,16] including [ReI(riboflavin)(CO)3Cl] [16]. Unfortunately, the original preparation of this compound yielded only a mixture of the prod uct with the starting material [16]. Moreover, only very little is known on the electronic spectra of this complex. In order to gain more insight in the CT interaction we decided to prepare and examine [ReI(riboflavin)(CO)3Cl] in a pure state.

Spectroscopic Studies on Charge-Transfer Complexation of Iodine with Dibenzo-15-crown-5 and Benzo-12-crown-4 in Chloroform, Dichloromethane and 1,2-Dichloroethane

The formation of charge-transfer complexation between dibenzo-15-crown-5 (DB15C5) and benzo-12-crown-4 (B12C4) (Donor) and iodine is investigated spectrophotometrically in three chlorinated solvents, chloroform, dichloromethane (DCM) and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) solution at 25°C. The change in polarityof the solvent also doesn’t affect the stoichiometry of the complexes. Values of formation cons...

Studies on the Charge-Transfer Interaction Between Tamoxifen Citrate and Chloranilic Acid

The complex formed as a consequence of the interaction between the electron-acceptor P-chloranilic acid and an electron donor tamoxifen citrate was employed in the assay of the drug in pure powder and tablets. Chloranilic acid was found to form a charge-transfer complex in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio, with tamoxifen citrate. The wavelength of maximum absorption for the complex was found to...

Reaction of the NAD(P)H:flavin oxidoreductase from Escherichia coli with NADPH and riboflavin: identification of intermediates.

Flavin reductase catalyzes the reduction of free flavins by NAD(P)H. As isolated, Escherichia coli flavin reductase does not contain any flavin prosthetic group but accommodates both the reduced pyridine nucleotide and the flavin substrate in a ternary complex prior to oxidoreduction. The reduction of riboflavin by NADPH catalyzed by flavin reductase has been studied by static and rapid kinetic...

DFT study of the intermolecular interaction of 3,4-dinitropyrazole (DNP) and H2O

In the present work, the sensitivity to the moisture (hygroscopisity) is studied for 3,4-dinitropyrazole (DNP) as a famous energetic molecule. All of the DNP-H2O complex systems (1-3) as well as individual molecules were optimized and bond lengths, bond angles, dihedral angles, charge transfer and stability via NBO analysis, corrected interaction energies with ZPE + BSSE and hydrogen bonds anal...

Determination of Trimethoprim Based on Charge-Transfer Complexes Formation

A spectrophotometric study concerning the interaction between Trimethoprim (TMP) ,Sulfamethoxazole (SFMx), as n-donor and 2,3-dichloro-5,6- dicyano-P-benzoquinine (DDQ) and chloranilic acid (CA) as π-acceptor were been performed at 25°C. The results of interaction of CA and DDQwith TMP indicate the formation of a 1:1, 1:2, charge transfer complexes through non equilibrium reactions. In the case...
